Augmented reality in the Science Classroom

In this session participants will explore how to use Augmented Reality (AR) applications of high educational value in the classroom in order to make their lessons more effective.

The presenter will demonstrate an overview of apps made by some of the most accomplished AR companies and organizations such as Daqri, NASA, AugThat, and Aurasma.  Specifically, participants will learn how to create hands-on elementary, middle, and high school level lessons using Daqri’s Elements 4D Chemistry Cubes. In addition, participants will learn how to use Daqri’s Anatomy 4D to teach basic and advance science concepts such as human anatomy and human body systems.  Furthermore, participants will be exposed to several space apps Such as NASA’s SpaceCraft 3D, as well as SkySafari and SkyView to explore celestial bodies in space.  Participants will also learn how to create their own AR triggers in the classroom and how to use Daqri’s 4D Studio, Augthat, and Aurasma to craft student-made AR examples that illustrate their understanding.

All of the activities shared in this dynamic session are aligned to several Language Arts, Science, and Math Common Core Standards.
